Position Title: Bindery Maintenance Apprentice

Location: Clarksville, TN

Reports to: Bindery Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Bindery Maintenance Apprentice supports, collaborates, and studies all aspects of precision maintenance and repair of Bindery equipment. The incumbent works closely with the Bindery Maintenance Technician to provide regular and effective maintenance of all production machinery in the department. This apprentice must apply generalized and specific knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, machined parts, pneumatic, and other systems. Reads schematics and diagnoses equipment malfunctions if necessary. Assists in the repairs, and/or orders parts to replace failed components. Provides detailed systems analysis, using blueprints, schematics, testing gauges and other equipment to isolate and identify cause(s) of malfunctions.

Assists with the installation of production equipment to ensure proper infrastructure and support systems. Works independently and as part of a team to minimize equipment down time and install/move equipment as scheduled. Ensures that all work is done according to laws, rules and regulations governing external power systems, environments and safety. Works regularly scheduled shifts and is periodically on-call for emergency services. Prioritizes work according to safety, production and project plans. Keeps updated on new technologies, equipment repairs and governmental regulations.


  • Industrial Maintenance diploma/certification,and/or equivalent experience.

  • 1 + years’ experience with fabrication, complex machinerepair, electrical troubleshooting, industrial machinery assembly, and facilitysystems maintenance and repair.

  • Must know and understand basics of Binderyequipment.

  • Must have good mechanical ability.

  • Ability to learn and take direction from atechnician/trainer.

  • Must have good communication skills – written andverbal.

  • Must have good computer skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime withshort notice.

  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to workwell under pressure of deadlines.

  • Flexibility to learn and use new technology.

  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Excellent attendance record.
