Primary Function
The International Specialist will work with U. S. Customs, international suppliers ,Internal warehouse staff,as well as other business units to ensure high level of compliance. Understand and accurately audit import documents to include document workup. Be able to prepare export documents such as Commercial Invoices and packing list. Understanding of FCL and LCL loads, negotiate with Carriers/Forwarders, broker for international bid.
Responsibilities
Assist with analysis of Trade Lanes, rate structure as well as provide data to analyst with other metrics required by Trade Compliance
Keep meticulous records for stated required periods. Knowledge of customs brokers internal workings a plus.
Track shipments/documents through shipment at international location to receipt, Conduct Restricted Party screening of customers and document results, understand customs procedures and work with appointed agents and customs brokers.
Work with International sales and customer service directly to ensure their information needs and customer requirements are met.
Coordinates the import/export shipments in a safely, timely and cost-effectively while assuring compliance with all US and International trade and compliance regulations.
Coordinates the loading and handling of both intercompany and export customer orders.
Prepare documents for international shipments, trade compliance, and payment authorization.
Work with cross-functional teams and other areas of the business to ensure the readiness of customer and intercompany orders.
Coordinate cross functionally inspections request filings and physical inspections as required for export shipments to specific countries such as for Certificate of Conformity, Technical Inspection Report etc., as required per the country of importation.
Document procedures and review current procedures, analyze procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
Work with internal warehouse staff and international suppliers
Understand and quickly audit import shipment documents to include document workup
Understanding of FCL (Full Container Loads) and LCL (Less-than Container Loads)
Conduct restricted party screenings of suppliers, document results
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
3 years of industry related experience
Experience working with shipment documents and/or customs brokers/forwarders
Understand basic import laws and regulations
Good interpersonal skills, well organized, negotiation skills
Microsoft office experience i.e.: Excel, Word and Access, Outlook ( Intermediate level)
SAP working knowledge a plus.
Knowledgeable in all modes of Transportation-TL, LTL, Ocean, Air, Small Package
Knowledge of the international, and domestic shipping modes and contracting provisions (Incoterms Experience utilizing Import/Export documentation including: Electronic Export Information (EEI ); AES filings (SED); Certificates of Origin; FTA Certificates; ECCN, Proforma Invoices; and Schedule B / HTS classification nomenclature.
Implementation experience, database management and ad hoc reporting, a plus.
